Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB an update on A&E at Royal Glamorgan Hospital
Today our Board have approved to commit to a 24/7 consultant-led facility at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
Dr Nick Lyons, Medical Director of Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB, said: “I am delighted to confirm that today our Board approved a commitment to the ongoing, long-term, delivery of emergency medicine services through a 24/7 consultant-led Emergency Department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
“The hard work of teams in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and across the organisation to make such significant changes and improvements to address the department’s safety concerns should not be underestimated. Their dedication, particularly throughout the response to COVID19, has been fantastic and I would like to thank them for their commitment.
“The Health Board has also listened very carefully to the experiences and suggestions from our communities, and their views have been vital in informing this work.
“There is still work to do and our teams will now be looking at building on and developing staffing models for emergency medicine, minor injury and illness services and their supporting services. As agreed by the Board, we will also be establishing a Partnership Panel to work together with our communities to develop these services so they are accessible and used appropriately for their needs.”
