Let’s have the full cost of Welsh Government commitment to Pinewood
Calls have been made for the Welsh Labour Government to urgently disclose the full cost of its commitment to Pinewood.
This week, Pinewood revealed it would next year end its involvement with a Welsh Government-backed film studio.
Shadow Minister for Education and Welsh Language, Suzy Davies AM, said: “Significant sums of money have been spent by the Welsh Government, most notably an eye-watering £9.5 million on fitting out the studio and Wales Audit Office’s revelation of £392k of taxpayers’ money on annual costs.
“For months they dodged answering questions. No more of that. Let’s have the full cost of Welsh Government commitment to Pinewood. Big promises were made about Welsh jobs and a boost to the economy and we want to see what we actually got."
Mrs Davies also called for the full details of TV company Bad Wolf renting the site to be made public.
She said: “After earlier questions about the relationship between Welsh Government and Bad Wolf, let’s also have maximum disclosure of the rental arrangement for this undeniably successful company’s use of the Pinewood studio.
“Pinewood ran rings around Welsh Government. I’m sure we all want to see what’s been salvaged from the wreckage.”
