Rhondda Cynon Taf Labour run council propose to create more high paid Councillor roles
At the full Council meeting this coming Wednesday a proposal is being put forward to create two new posts within the Council structure.
As well as a Mayor and Deputy Mayor it is proposed to also create two new posts of Presiding Member and Deputy Presiding Member. It will be their responsibility to chair Council meetings, something the Mayor / Deputy Mayor currently does.
The report being put to members states "If remunerated, a Presiding Member is entitled to a Band 3 Senior Salary (for 19/20 £22,568).
Welsh Liberal Democrat Councillor Mike Powell said
"Judging by past experience this would not be appearing on the agenda if the labour group had not already decided they want it to happen.
"It enables them to reward yet more of their members with extra allowances. I am sure this is just why people voted them in."
