CTHB Team Wales physiotherapists share their experience with us!
Physiotherapists Ciara Horne, Bethan Dursley and Emma Fox have landed safely on home soil after spending time with Team Wales for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Olympic cyclist Ciara was delighted to take part in the games finishing fifth in the team pursuit and eighth in the individual pursuit. She also gained a new personal best.
She said: “Taking part in the Commonwealth Games as well as the Olympics was amazing and to come away with a new personal best was a bonus!”
Bethan and Emma attended the Commonwealth Games as physiotherapy support.
Bethan said: “I have worked with the Welsh Artistic Gymnastics team for the past four years as a soft tissue therapist. After building a good rapport and trusting relationship with the coaches and gymnasts throughout the Commonwealth Games Programme, I was given the opportunity to travel with the team to Australia to their pre-Commonwealth Games camp prior to entering the athletes’ village.
“This has been an amazing experience and I feel privileged to have been a part of such an amazing team at such a huge event. I believe it has helped to build my confidence and develop new skills that I have been able to transfer into the clinical setting within my full time role as a physiotherapist in the NHS.”
As a whole, Team Wales had the most successful Commonwealth Games, achieving 36 medals to include 10 golds, 12 silvers and 14 bronze.
