Prior to bank holidays or in the event of bad weather, we will endeavour to update this page with the latest information on the availability of council services, road and school closures.

For the latest news and information follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook

Contacting the Council

All residents are reminded they can contact the Council with an emergency issue via the Contact Centre on 01443 425001 or 01443 425011 during out of hours/inclement weather, which is open 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.

You can also access a wide range of online services via this website.

School Closures and School Transport

Please use the links below for the latest information about school closures and school transport.

Road Closures

For the latest information on Road Closures visit these pages –

Bins and Recycling

There will be no change to recycling, refuse, green waste, food waste or nappy waste collections.

Please leave all items for collection on the kerbside (no earlier than 7pm the day before collection) and we will do the rest.

For more information on your collection days and what you can and cannot put out for collection, please visit the  Bins and Recycling service

Our  Community Recycling Centres are open as usual all weekend, and you can drop off items not included in kerbside collections.

Social Care

There are currently no planned changes to the services offered by our social care staff.

Remember that if you have an urgent or emergency issue, you can contact expert advisers in the Council’s Contact Centre 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week on 01443 425011.

Cemeteries and Bereavement Services

There are currently no changes in place for Cemeteries and Bereavement Services.

There are sometimes exceptional circumstances when we have to close the cemeteries to vehicles at short notice.

If it is necessary to close a cemetery to vehicles, a notice is placed on the Cemetery gates advising the public. As soon as it is safe to do so the Cemetery gates are opened to vehicles.

The cemeteries can be accessed by pedestrians when closed to vehicles but we would urge people to exercise caution when visiting our cemeteries in adverse weather and to ensure they wear appropriate clothing and footwear to avoid falls and injury.

Leisure Centres

Visit the Leisure website for details of your local centre's opening hours.

Public Transport

You are also advised to contact the relevant companies directly for further information with regards to the disruption of services during bank holidays and periods of bad weather.
