Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Leader, Cllr Andrew Morgan, said: “Speaking with traders over the last year, I know how important the festive period is for our town centre traders, and this is why the Council is expanding the support for them by providing funding for Christmas trees and festive lighting and for a range of Christmas events across the county borough’s town centres.

“Last year, our Christmas events brought thousands of visitors into our town centres, providing a boost to the local economy and an opportunity for each of our town centres to showcase what they have to offer.

“This year we are going even further, with Christmas events planned in Llantrisant and Ferndale as well as Aberdare, Mountain Ash, Porth, Treorchy, Tonypandy and Pontypridd.

“On top of guest appearances from Santa, there will also be many attractions in our towns, along with the switching on of the Christmas lights.

“As a further incentive, shoppers will be able to park for FREE in Aberdare and Pontypridd town centres during December, with FREE parking all year round already in place in our other town centres.”

There will be a charge of £2 per child to visit Santa, which includes a gift at all the Council-run Christmas events. All monies raised at all Council-run events will go to the Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor’s Appeal.

Free Christmas Parking will be available after 10am in Council-owned car parks in Aberdare and Pontypridd throughout December. Free parking is on offer in Council car parks in Mountain Ash, Tonypandy and Porth throughout the year.

Please note: Temporary road closures and diversions will be in place to allow these festive events to go ahead.
