Fostered siblings from Aberdare raised £1132.42 by climbing Snowdon
Intrepid young foster children conquered Snowdon for charity
Elisha (10) and Ethan (8) together with their foster family undertook a challenge of climbing the highest mountain in Wales in July and continued fundraising until the end of October. TACT Cymru Area Manager congratulated and thanked children on a special cheque presentation held on 1st November.
The children are both passionate mountain walkers. They started climbing five years ago when they were put in care with their long-term foster mum Joy Burke. Aged only 3 and 5 they walked up Pen y Fan mountain to raise money for TACT for the first time. Ever since they have been climbing the peak and fundraising every year. For Summer 2018, Elisha and Ethan planned even bigger challenge – walking up Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles.
The foster mum Joy said: “I would like to thank everyone who supported our fundraising and especially Elisha and Ethan who never faltered in their support to help others. I am extremely proud of them both as they are amazing children.”
The funds raised will go towards positive activities for looked after children and young people in Wales, such as upcoming Christmas party for foster families, regular art sessions in North and Mid Wales and additional support for children and carers.
