FREE dental treatment is being offered to patients in the Cynon Valley and surrounding areas.
The Dental Teaching Unit at the Cynon Valley Hospital / Ysbyty Cwm Cynon, New Road, Mountain Ash, is currently recruiting patients. The Unit which opened its doors in 2012 is in its fifth year and has already helped thousands of patients reach a high standard of oral health and provide important experience for a new generation of dentists.
Elaine Mahoney, from Merthyr Tydfil, spent eight months looking for a dentist willing to take her on until she heard about the service at the unit.
She said: “It has been brilliant. I’ve even recommended the service to a neighbour who had a problem – and he loved it too.’’
“I found they have the latest equipment and there’s always someone to hand. They’re always happy to see you and treat you like a human being – it’s first class.’’
Elaine is now one of several thousand patients from the Cynon Valley, Merthyr Vale, Pontypridd and Hirwaun areas who have received treatment at the Unit over the past five years. The Unit, which boasts state of the art equipment, is staffed by final year dental students from Cardiff Dental Hospital who work under the close supervision of a team of experienced dentists who ensure a high standard of treatment is provided.
A range of treatment including fillings, crowns, dentures and root fillings are available and at the present time and there is no charge for this treatment.
If you do not presently have a dentist and wish to register an interest, please call into the Unit or telephone 01443 715000 between 8.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
