Labour advice amounts to ‘ultra-nanny state’
Commenting on the launch of the Welsh Labour government’s ‘Bed times without the battles and shopping without the stropping’ campaign, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Education Angela Burns AM, said:
“I’m entirely unconvinced that it’s the government’s job to tell parents how to bring up their children.
“Taxpayers will rightly question the resources going into a Labour scheme that bears all the hallmarks of an ultra-nanny state.
“On Universal Children’s Day we should spend time considering the support available for young people and highlighting how we can improve young lives.
“It’s not a day for the government to highlight ‘shopping without stropping’.
“There are many first class charities and organisations that already provide exemplary advice for parents.
“The Welsh government should be working with them – and ensuring all parents are aware of the support on offer.”
