Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council has implemented changes to home-to-school transport, sparking concern among parents in the Aberdare community.
A local campaign group, Save School Transport in RCT, is raising awareness about the new policy which discontinues free transport for students living under the three-mile threshold.
Parents have voiced serious concerns over child safety, citing incidents of attempted abductions and dangerous traffic conditions on the proposed walking routes. The group warns that without reliable transport, some parents may keep their children home from school, prioritising safety over attendance. The campaign highlights the need for the council to reconsider its decision and ensure the well-being of all students.
