Captain Underpants

In February, 2,739 people in Rhondda were depending on JobSeeker’s Allowance – up from 1,349 in 2005. The high-profile 2007 closure of the Burberry factory in Treorchy made headlines but many people throughout the constituency know the pain of job losses.
Ruth Moverley, the Anglican vicar of Tonyrefail said, “The fear of people is the cuts which have to be made to offset the multi-millions of Government borrowing will have a catastrophic impact on areas such as the Rhondda which already suffer from social deprivation and lack of local investment.”

Rhondda Labour MP is certainly not suffering from social deprivation and lack of local investment judging by what he claims in expenses.

You might have thought a majority of 52 per cent would be enough to allow Labour MP Chris Bryant to relax, but the poor chap is clearly fretting. Tweeting to mark Shakespeare's birthday on Friday, the MP for Rhondda chose a line from Richard II,
"His rash fierce blaze of riot cannot last", clearly a reference to Cleggmania. We suggest he takes a tip from Malvolio: "Be not afraid of greatness."
Chris Bryant, the MP for Rhondda, has split more than £92,000 of expenses between three properties in Wales and London in the past five years.
In 2004, he attempted to claim £58,000 to overhaul his second home in Porth, Wales, after allegedly complaining that most properties in his constituency were "terrace or mine owners' houses".
In April 2005, he flipped his expenses to his flat in west London, which he bought for £400,000 in April 2002. He claimed £630 a month for mortgage interest, along with other bills. After claiming more than £3,600 over three months, he sold the flat in July 2005 for £477,000.
Mr Bryant then bought another flat in west London and immediately designated it his second home. He promptly set about billing the taxpayer for £6,400 in stamp duty and purchase fees as well as £1,000 a month in interest on the property.
Rhondda MP Chris Bryant had revealed that pensioners in the Rhondda will receive an extra £60 in the New Year as part of the Government's package to help people through the winter.
Prediction
Chris Bryant can safely assume that he’ll receive the backing of the electorate of Rhondda once more.
