That is great ,it is not often you get to see a badger in the wild.
On one of our bird watching expaditions we saw one once down near the south coast ,frightened the life out of us as it walked out from the bushes straight across the path in front of us and vanished into the undergrowth the other side.We were surprised how big it was.
It was unusual as it was in the middle of the day and they don't usually come out until evening or in the night.
Hope you get to see it again.

That must have been a wonderful sight, I have never seen a wild badger in my life and I spend a lot of my time out in the countryside. These are smashing looking animals it beats me as to why people would want to did them out and set their dogs on them.
hi gang, yes i was very surprised and happy.i was only talking to a guy who works with the forestry commission yesterday,he was saying that the amount of wildlife is on the increase especially where they have been harvesting timber.
i thought that would have the opposite effect, but no.even new plants etc seem to thrive more.
bear.
Thats really good to hear I love walking about and seeing all the different wildlife. I was up by the mountain railway in merthyr last year I think it was early march then and there were 2 kites just playing around riding the thermals it was a smashing sight.
A regular visitor to my garden is a Sparrow Hawk.
Unfortunately it seems to be its feeding ground , as when I see it sitting on the rockery it is usually devouring a dead sparrow.
Seems so cruel ,but then that is the way things are in the wild .
We have deer coming into our compound everyday looking for a bite to eat. They head for the apple trees, one a crab apple, which they love to eat in the summertime, leaves and all. An apple(we put ou every day)on the ground in winter in a no no - they wont touch it. They are always on the alert. But the bunnies soon come at dusk and wisk them away, leaving nibbled bits behind. We never tire of seeing them, especially to know they have survived another winter.
Talkiing of rare breeds in the valley. I spotted the "Lesser able Clwyd". A rare species. Must have got lost in Cwmaman while on its migration to the warmer climes of Iraq.
The Clwyd was finely adorned in its usual red plumage and its distinctive song was very familiar, with chirps of non relevance and nods, almost twitches of its head at timely intervals, much like a performing parrot at a zoo.
I felt privileged to witness the event as i am sure it is going to become much rarer in the valley after the elections.
Is that for real Chainey ,or is it a bit of a joke. sounds like a nice bird .
