HELP FIND THIS MAN.

A 48 year old man in a grubby mac has been found following young women around the streets of Cardiff late at night. Recent reports suggest the man goes by the name of Martin Shipton and is falsely claiming to be a journalist. The suspect is often found to have a concealed digital camera and was last seen eyeing up concert goers at the Rhianna event earlier in the week.

This man is known to have a particular interest in young blondes from Neath, as a 75 year old male from Llanelli who also had been investigated on the same evening was found to have attended a tasting evening of fine wine at St Fagans followed by performance of the Welsh Symphony Orchestra did not draw his attention. The public are warned that if they see this man, do not approach him, and report him immediately to the South Wales Police Commissioner who pays for his wine.

Should Bethan lock herself in the hotel room after dark ?

What I find objectionable about this whole messy affair is the supercilious attitude of those who are supposed to be the guardians of the Public Purse,

The Assembly Commission said it could not comment on the case.

Now why the hell not?

This is public money, the conduct of a democratically elected person.......and under these circumstances the public has a right to know...........and no one has the right to stop the public knowing!

Give them an inch they will take all that they can!

I wonder if she would have given the mony back had the matter not been discovered!

AMs can claim up to £3,420 for overnight stays in Cardiff in each year in connection with the performance of their role as AMs.

You know people you can get a room in Cardiff for around £40. That allowance is way too much in the first place!

THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU DONT HAVE AN OPEN SYSTEM OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY!

Well the first thing you got to do DBT, is to get your facts right, although it's possible you may have been led astray by the Wasting Mule.

(a) Bethan Jankins AM did not 'pay anything back'.

The Assembly Commission makes the legitimate hotel booking, which it was, as she qualifies due to her home being so far away from the Assembly. Bethan, like all other AMs gets conformation of the booking, and stays the night at the relevant hotel. At the end of the month, the Assembly Commission gets an invoice for ALL of the rooms booked from the hotel and then passes it to the relevant AMs for a signature before signing. In this instance the hotel was not paid by the Assembly Commission, as Bethan had already settled it herself, prior to it becoming due for payment. This is a regular occurrence, as AM's often plan to be on official business and have their hotel booked, but if plans or diary commitments change to being an 'unofficial' bile being called away on personal, party political, or charitable business, they have the option to pay the bill themselves

(b) Although Bethan paid for her hotel out of her own pocket she was in fact on legitimate Assembly business, having to do the weeks paperwork at her office in Ty Hywel on the Monday afternoon, and attend meetings the following morning and attend a full plenary on the Tuesday.

(c) Lot's of AMs go out in Cardiff after work. They do not, nor do they have to, lock themselves in the hotel room hugging the trouser press. Bethan goes to a pop concert after finding out one of her studenty friends managed to get a ticket. Other AMs go to a classical music recital, others take in a rugby game with an evening kick off, some even go for an evening barbecue in Rhiwbina as was the case with a Tory AM on the same night in question.

The reality is that this is a false story dreamt up my a Wasting Mule reporter in a story which has no legs pickled by a fat middle aged over-the-hill journalist the fact that young women do have a life and can go out to a concert with the girls if she so chooses.

Quite right too, they need to be there.

Bethan Jenkins is a Plaid Cymru AM.
They don't do fiddles.
