And just who exactly will be buying all these houses? More to the point, where will they obtain their mortgages from, and what jobs will they have to repay said mortgages?

Seems to me our local Labour Party incumbents are living in cloud cuckoo land, just like their masters in Westminster, who helped to bring about this financial debacle in which we find ourselves right now.

Ah well, if it happens that's another Labour Party environmental policy sold down the river, just like all the others they've conned us with.

Vote Labour to combat climate change and protect your local environment. Vote for King Herod to run Mothercare!

Residents can now have their say on the important document that will shape the future of Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Consultation has begun on the Deposit Draft Local Development Plan 2006-2021 and it is hoped as many people as possible join the process and play a part in shaping development across RCT.

The plan sets out a framework for the Borough until 2021. It provides policies and guidance on how development should be delivered – from an individual planning application to affordable housing levels and transport to accommodate new and existing residents.

As well as identifying sites for new houses, employment and retail developments, the plan will consider the eight strategic sites which were identified in the Preferred Strategy, renewable energy, transport, leisure activities, and countryside protection. The plan also aims to regenerate both the Northern and Southern areas of the Borough by focusing on the specific problems that affect each area.

This is an important opportunity for all residents in Rhondda Cynon Taf to have their say on what is proposed.

Cllr Paul Cannon, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Housing, said: “The Deposit Draft Local Development Plan creates a framework for the future and is a vital document that everyone should play a part in signing off.

“People need to know what could be happening on their doorsteps, or how the future planning process will affect them.

“But they also need to see the bigger picture planned for RCT, in terms of allocating strategic sites for development that creates regeneration and prosperity, that brings new businesses into the area and provides the transport, energy and housing needs of a growing population.

“Of course it is a far-reaching plan, which is why it is to be delivered over 15 years and we hope residents play a part in that.”

The plan can be viewed at local libraries, One 4 All centres and Council Offices. There will also be a series of exhibitions throughout the Borough, details of which are included below.

Consultation begins on February 5th and runs until March 19th. For more information check local press or visit www.rhondda-cynon-taff.gov.uk
