Following the party funding fiasco of the Conservative Party where the shadow chancellor of the Westminster House, Mr Osborn MP had met with a Russian billionaire on a yacht off Corfu with Lord Mandelson to discuss donations to party political funds, Plaid Cymru wish to make a statement about the events.

In September 2008, during the Plaid Cymru conference, Leanne Wood AM and Jill Evans MEP went onto a fishing trawler at Aberystwyth. During the conversation, a Plaid AM asked for some fish. The skipper of the fishing trawler is adamant that an offer of a quantity of mackerel had been made. Plaid Cymru (Rhondda office) have confirmed that no fish actually changed hands.
