“That, as a consequence of the need for potential savings of £60 million over the next three years, the Leader of the Council takes the lead by reducing his Cabinet by three Members, thereby saving in excess of £60,000 (sixty thousand pounds) per annum.”

To be voted on at a meeting of RHONDDA CYNON TAF COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL at the County Borough Council Offices,
The Pavilions, Cambrian Park, Clydach Vale on Wednesday, 1 December 2010 at 5.00 p.m.

I wonder if the independents and the Consevative/LibDem alliance group on the council will support this?

How about reduce it to five and save even more money.

The Labour Councillors banded together to oppose the motion so their top councillors kept their expenses and allowances. The motion was rejected. Labour then went on to consider compulsory redundancies of road sweepers, pool attendants, and grave diggers. More expensive wine was purchased for the mayor and instead cleaners are to be sacked from care homes for the elderly, to save money.
