Commenting on reports that experts are calling for greater flexibility in the way the proposed tourism tax can be levied within a local authority, Paul Davies MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, said:
“Labour and Plaid’s tourism tax is yet another burden on hospitality and should be axed.
“We should be encouraging tourists to come to Wales, to spend money in our local economy and support our pubs, shops, restaurants and hotels.
“We should not be deterring tourists with yet more taxes. Local authorities must continue to rule out introducing a tourism tax and the Welsh Government must scrap it altogether.”
