Gilfach Goch Social Club steps up its floor game

Gilfach Goch Social Club is continuing its commitment to providing a welcoming and well-maintained space for the local community, thanks to support from local energy company Pennant Walters.

Building on the club’s ongoing efforts to improve its facilities, the latest funding from Pennant Walters has enabled the installation of a brand-new carpet, enhancing comfort, safety, and accessibility for members, and visitors alike.

The improvement will benefit everyone who uses the Social Club, from regular members and community groups to those attending events, meetings, and social gatherings. The new carpet creates a warmer, more inviting environment and helps ensure the club remains a central hub for village life in Gilfach Goch.

“We are extremely grateful to Pennant Walters for their support. The new carpet has made a real difference to the comfort of our members and guests and helps us continue providing a space the community can be proud of.

“The old carpet had been down many, many years and was looking really tatty – having this funding support has made a real difference to the space.”

The funding was provided by Pennant Walters from a community fund linked to two wind farms in the Gilfach Goch and Blackmill areas — Pant y Wal, in the county of Bridgend, and Fforch Nest, which straddles the border of Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taf. Together, the sites comprise 21 turbines producing 53 megawatts of clean electricity, enough to power the equivalent of 25,000 homes.

The support builds on previous donations that have enabled Pennant Walters to back a wide range of local community groups and projects.
