Cwm Taf Health Board are experiencing a significant rise in winter respiratory infections circulating both in our hospitals and communities across CTM. This has led to increased hospital admissions, particularly in our most vulnerable patient groups, such as the elderly.
If you are visiting one of our hospital sites in the coming weeks, you can play your part in helping us to avoid spreading illness and preventing NHS staff becoming ill.
You can help us by following the steps below:
Get vaccinated
If you’re eligible for vaccinations against flu or COVID don’t miss out. Getting vaccinated is the single most effective thing you can do to prevent yourself becoming ill and suffering the worst effects of these viruses.
Maintain good hand hygiene
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitiser. This may seem like a small thing, but it makes a big difference.
Visit responsibly
Respiratory illnesses and viruses can be dangerous for vulnerable patients in hospitals.
If you think you have a virus or have recently spent time with someone who has a virus, avoid visiting a hospital unless necessary.
Here is Filipe Leitao our Head of Nursing for Infection Control talking about how you can be a responsible visitor to our hospital sites.
