U turn by RCT Labour Controled Council

Labour Cabinet changed its mind on charging for the additional childcare element of breakfast clubs

Plaid Cymru Councillors Group in Rhondda Cynon Taff. were pleased to see this announcement yesterday. At the beginning of this year, RCT’s Plaid Cymru group expressed support within schools and governing bodies that had concerns with this policy.

In a consultation, 73% of respondents opposed the introduction of a charge to the childcare provision. The Labour Party chose to ignore it.

Breakfast Club is important for pupils, parents and teachers, ensuring all children receive a healthy start to the day and also playing a crucial part in raising school attendance and attainment levels.
