As part of our ‘Operation Bang’ campaign, an alcohol test purchasing operation was conducted on Monday evening by a Mid Glam Licensing Officer accompanied by Youth Engagement Officer PC Evans and a South Wales Police youth volunteer.
This was carried out at off licences in #Merthyr & the #Cynon Valley to ensure that alcohol is not sold to children within our communities.
This exercise is to ensure that shop owners & staff are consistent with requesting identification from persons who do not look 25. This is vital as it ensures children are safeguarded from harm due to the effects of alcohol.
Following the attendance by the youth volunteer, Licensing Officers spoke to retailers to provide positive feedback and also to give information in relation to the sale of alcohol.
Further to this, officers provided guidance and information in regards to the sale of eggs and flour to people during the Halloween period. Shops will actively promote the campaign and will sell the items at their discretion with the aim of preventing anti social behaviour within our communities.
