10 year waits for endometriosis diagnosis in Labour-run Wales
Commenting on the news that women in Wales are waiting the longest in the UK at almost 10 years for an endometriosis diagnosis, a year longer than in 2020, Russell George MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister said:
“Ten-year waits in our Welsh NHS are completely unacceptable, let alone for such a painful and life-impacting condition.
“The Labour Government must do better to improve this situation for women the length and breadth of Wales.
“The Welsh Conservatives have offered the incoming First Minister the votes to scrap costly Labour vanity projects, like creating 36 more politicians, to shift the focus back to fully resourcing our Welsh NHS.”
Overview. Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pain in the pelvis and make it harder to get pregnant. Endometriosis can start at a person’s first menstrual period and last until menopause.
