Year 7 2014-15 Dogs Trust Charity Assembly

The aim of Aberdare Community School Year 8 in assembly was for the pupils to present their cheque to the dogs trust.
A presentation was delivered by Claire Kendrick from the Dogs Trust on Safety around dogs, and a fresh perspective on looking after dogs. Pupils learned how the Dogs Trust operate and gained information of what careers are available at the centre. Also, pupils had the opportunity to ask Claire any questions regarding this Charity.
An excellent effort was put in by all of the pupils last year by collecting a grand total of £2255.94. They were the overall winners, by collecting the most out of all the year groups at Aberdare Community School.
Year 8 have decided that this money will be used to feed and look after the dogs at the centre, along with any medical attention that they might need. Also it will be used for the re-homing project for the dogs.
Each form group did their own fund raising, by selling cakes, sweets, chocolates, ice-lollies and cream eggs. There was a sponsored walk around Plasdraw, a sponsored silence, Mrs Woodrow ran the Santa Run at the Country Park and a staff car wash was organised.
There was a fantastic atmosphere around the school today after assembly.
Well done Year 8.
