Working Wardobe launched in Rhydyfelin

A new service offering free interview clothing to job seekers was launched on Thursday 10th March in Rhydyfelin near Pontypridd.

The Working Wardrobe initiative aims to give people the confidence to take their first step towards a new career by gifting free interview and workwear attire.

Whether local people are currently applying for work, or have recently secured a new role, they’ll be able to collect and keep a workwear outfit from the Rhydyfelin hub.

The Rhydyfelin project is delivered in partnership with Moxie People, Platfform, Newydd Housing Association, Tai Calon, United Welsh, Working Families and Bluegg, and was launched after it was identified that many people do not have access to suitable, quality interview clothing.

As well as helping job seekers, Working Wardrobe will also have a positive impact on the issue of climate change. By redistributing new or lightly used interview clothing, Working Wardrobe will play a role in reducing the amount of clothing sent to landfill in the UK every year.

Rich Thomas, Co-Founder of Moxie People, said, “We are proud that Working Wardrobe will tackle some of the most pressing social and economic issues in south Wales, as we know that employment has the power to transform lives and our communities, whilst boosting the Welsh economy post COVID.

“Working Wardrobe epitomises everything that we stand for at Moxie – building people up and giving them the opportunity to secure sustainable employment – which everyone deserves. As when you’re dressed for success, you can take on the world!”

If you’d like interview clothing, please contact Lisa Voyle ahead of your trip to the Hapi Hub, Masefield Way, Rhydyfelin, CF37 5HQ by emailinglisa.voyle@newydd.co.uk or calling 07501466690.
