Winner at the National Hospital Radio Awards 2017

The Merthyr Hospital Broadcasting Station, based at Prince Charles Hospital, has won several awards in this year’s national awards ceremony.

James Ewins, Hospital Radio Volunteer won the Gold award for “Best Male Presenter of the Year”

Here are some of the judges comments –  “The judges loved James story telling and listener engagement.”  “It’s why Hospital Radio is so great at what it does. A great broadcaster who understands his audience.”

The station also received awards for:

  • Best Station promotion in the top five category
  • Best Program with multiple Presenters in the top ten category

Kathryn Doughton, patient experience manager said: “Merthyr Hospital Broadcasting has been running for over 30 years on the Prince Charles Hospital site and is managed by a team of dedicated volunteers who all work full time, and give up their evenings and weekends to provide an entertainment programme for our patients.

“The health board recognises their dedication and they are fully supported by myself as representative of the health board.

“I am thrilled to see them receiving recognition on a national level and this further raises their profile and highlights the excellent service they provide.”
