Welsh Youth Parliament begins voter registration

Voter registration for the Welsh Youth Parliament has opened online.

The Welsh Youth Parliament is now allowing young people in Wales to register to vote in the Welsh Youth Parliament elections in November.

Registration is via an online form and young people have until 18 November 2018 to do so. On 05 November 18, those registered will be able to see who is standing for election in their area and cast their vote.

Voting will be done online between 5 November and 25 November 2018. There is more information, and a registration form, here.

Young people will be able to elect 40 of the 60 Welsh Youth Parliament Members (WYPM), with the other 20 being returned by partner organisations.

Nominations for candidates open on 03 September 2018, and close on 30 September 2018. To stand, young people will need to be between 11 and 18, and either living in, or receiving their education in, Wales. There’s more information here.

Organisations working with young people in Wales can apply to become offical partners. Once they have been selected, partner organisations will return 20 WYPM with the aim of ensuring the representation of diverse groups of young people. There’s more information about applying to become a partner organisation here.
