The guide has been developed specifically for social care employers because its research has shown the social care sector is one of the sectors most likely to make mistakes and underpay its staff.
More than 70,000 employers have been investigated by HMRC for issues in paying the national minimum wage since the legislation was introduced. Employers who underpay their staff risk fines of up to £20,000 per underpaid worker and being named and shamed.
