South Wales Police are asking residents to be vigilant following a spate of suspicious cold caller incidents in MountainAsh.

You should be wary of anybody who you don't know, who arrives at your property unannounced and uninvited.
Never invite cold callers into your property unless you are certain their call is legitimate.
Always ask for proper identification. But remember an ID can be faked so contact the organisation they claim to be from directly, not using a number they give you.
Ever heard of the password scheme?
Gas, Water, Electricity companies and some Councils have a password scheme for older and vulnerable customers. Customers can set up a memorable word or number with the company, which is known only to them. When you receive a caller at your door from one of your utility suppliers they have to be able to give you the password or number to get in.
Please look out for their elderly relatives and neighbours, be vigilant and contact police if you think you have been targeted by a suspicious caller.
