Seems RCT Welsh Liberal Democrats were right about Talbot Green new town.

This week an article on Wales Online pointed out what has been obvious for some time – the new town given planning permission five years ago does not seem to have appeared. Instead there is a roundabout and a concrete barrier protecting a small section of road that leads to nothing but open land and, even more inexplicably, a sign pointing to a superstore which doesn't exist.

The project was controversial from the start with planning permission being given despite objections from numerous individuals and organisations and a report commissioned by the Council itself which said that the project would have an adverse effect on other town centres in Rhondda Cynon Taff.

RCT Welsh Liberal Democrats were against the proposal believing we need to do more to preserve existing town centres and also that the area around Talbot Green is already over developed. However, as we said way back in 2011 when plans were first mooted the developers have a history within RCT and no doubt elsewhere of not carrying through with planned projects. The development of the precinct area in Pontypridd, the office and housing plans for Mwyndy, this same company caused huge local anger and upset, gained planning permission and then did nothing.

No surprises for some then
