Road closure along the Llanwonno mountain route

The Council has been informed about upcoming works requiring a 10-week road closure on a well-used road between Mountain Ash and Ferndale, via the Llanwonno mountain route.

The tree felling work, which will be carried out by Euroforest Ltd on behalf of landowner Natural Resources Wales, will take place from Monday, February 26, and is due for completion in early May. The works are being undertaken to remove infected trees near the Highway as part of forestry works.

The work requires the necessary closure of the unnamed road between Pleasant View and Brynffynon Public House in Llanwonno. It will require a local diversion route, which will be clearly signposted for motorists.

From Brynfynnon Public House motorists can proceed via Pen-y-Wal, Rock Terrace, Old Ynysybwl Road, Heol-y-Mynach and Pleasant View. Motorists travelling in the opposite direction can use this route in reverse order.

Access for pedestrians and emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the duration of the closure.

Natural Resources Wales has been in contact with local groups and businesses to discuss the impact of the closure.
