RCT Pubs Served Improvement Notices

Six more public houses and licensed premises in Rhondda Cynon Taf have been served with Premises Improvement Notices.

Council Enforcement Officers have served the 48-hour Premises Improvement Notices to the following licensed premises for failure to adhere to Covid-19 Guidance and Regulations in relation to social distancing:

  • The Whitcombe Inn, Whitcombe Street, Aberdare
  • The Gloster Arms, Whitcombe Street, Aberdare
  • The Camrbian Inn, Seymour Street, Aberdare
  • The Prince Of Wales, Victoria Square, Aberdare
  • The White Dragon, Bute Street, Treorchy
  • New Inn, Church Road, Ton Pentre

Councillor Andrew Morgan, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said: “It is disappointing to see further instances of enforcement action having to be taken at licensed premises within the County, and I would strongly encourage all pubs, bars and licensed premises within RCT to work with the Council in implementing and adhering to the Regulations in place.

“However, I have to stress that those members of the public visiting licensed premises must also play their part and follow the rules – any non-compliance or bad behaviour could end in a licensed premises being closed.

“Again, this is not a matter of the Council being difficult or imposing unnecessary restrictions, but it is about keeping people safe, stopping the risk of transmission and potentially saving lives.

“There are growing concerns right across Wales as the number of confirmed cases continue to rise and we will continue to do everything possible to bring down the figures locally and hopefully be in a position to see the relaxation or even removal of the Welsh Government restrictions in RCT at the earliest opportunity.

“But we need the public and all licensed premises and businesses to work with us with the collective aim of slowing down the spread of the virus within our communities”
