No date was given by the Welsh Government for the publication of the list of dangerous coal tips in Wales.
A response was received today from Samantha Thomas the Head of Coal Tip Safety Operations at the Welsh Government regarding the publication of the list of dangerous coal tips in Wales.
Thank you for your email of 21 July regarding the publication of coal tip data.
I appreciate that members of the public are interested in seeing a list of coal tips across Wales, and we have said that we are intending to publish this information. The collation and publication of this data for the first time is a highly complex and lengthy process. It is important that all information is quality assured and reflects an accurate position before it is released.
My previous response set out the position in relation to inspections and maintenance on coal tips, which highlights the ongoing action being taken by local authorities and the Coal Authority.
Finally, statements made by the Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf are not a matter for Welsh Government to comment on.
