NHS winter plan: Only swift and decisive action will ease winter pressures
Commenting on an NHS Winter Plan, introduced to deal with seasonal pressures in the health service, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Health, Darren Millar AM, said:
“Better late than never, Labour ministers must ensure these warm words from the chief executive of the NHS make a difference.
“Only swift and decisive action will ease the winter pressures that have blighted Labour’s health service for years.
“The reality is that GP out-of-hours services are in crisis in some parts of Wales, waiting times are too long and the four hour A and E target hasn’t been met in six years.
“Unless Labour gets to grips with these crippling problems, it’s unlikely patients will see improved performance, despite the hard work of staff.
“Labour’s record-breaking NHS cuts continue to hit our health service hard and Welsh Conservatives remain the only party committed to protecting the budget.”
