Gavin wants Penrhiwceiber residents to work together

Claire and Ria are no longer your typical Cynon Valley residents. They have recently engaged with local politics because they have concerns for the future of their communities. Their burning question is this: if the Labour Run Council are charging resident up to 32% more, in council tax, than other authorities, why are we seeing many local community centres closed down. Where is the money going? Is the stewardship of the Council adequate, and is it planning for the future?

I am standing in Penrhiwceiber to bring a clear message, to the Labour-run council, that we will not put up with any more of your austerity cuts while you are able to support multi-million-pound projects outside of RCT

Gavin Williams, Cynon Valley Party candidate for Penrhiwceiber, has spoken of his concerns and his vision for greater transparency and scrutiny of the Council. He is passionate about local youth issues and is challenging the Labour-run council to come clean regarding their disregard for local services. He is aware that many services are being removed, by the council, under the guise of austerity, and wants local residents to fight, with him, against these disastrous cuts. He says, they strip away meaningful services, such as youth clubs, from our deprived towns, and this leaves a great void within the community.

Youth Clubs are essential for social cohesion and are pivotal in providing awareness to our youth on subjects such as drug abuse. Gavin has voiced his concerns regarding the many people riding the council gravy train while essential services are being removed. He goes on to say, “I am standing in Penrhiwceiber to bring a clear message, to the Labour-run council, that we will not put up with any more of your austerity cuts while you are able to support multi-million-pound projects outside of RCT”.
