Free cancer support and sun safety advice coming to the Big Welsh Bite

Macmillan’s Welsh mobile information and support team will be on hand to provide sun safety advice and information about cancer at the Big Welsh Bite in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd this weekend.

Based in the wellbeing zone, Macmillan Information and Support Specialist, Karen Ball, will be available from 11am to 5pm on Saturday 4 August and Sunday 5 August for people to drop in with any questions or concerns they may have.

There will also be free sun lotion available, to help ensure people stay protected during the hot weather expected at the event this weekend.

Moray Hayman, Team Lead for Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service in Wales said: “We’re really looking forward to being at the Big Welsh Bite again this year.

“We hope that those visiting the event who have questions about cancer, will spot the Macmillan stand and use the opportunity to chat to the team or pick up some information.

“As well as answering questions on the day, we can signpost to other cancer services in the area and provide information on a range of issues, including financial advice and wellbeing.”

Richard Pugh, Head of Services for Macmillan in Wales, said: “At Macmillan, we know how a cancer diagnosis can affect everything and we’re here to support you.

“Our mobile information team travel around Wales and the rest of the UK visiting local communities, providing cancer information and advice on the ground.”
