Do You Fancy Becoming A Lifeguard in RCT?

An opportunity has arisen once again this year to train as a lifeguard for free, which could result in a career in the Leisure industry for those who wish to ‘take the plunge' into something new and exciting.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is delighted to be able to offer this chance, with funding provided for the lifeguard training from the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of the Lido Ponty Regeneration Project.

Lifeguard training equips people with a range of practical skills and a theoretical understanding of the role of the lifeguard.

Candidates who are successful in attaining the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) will hold a qualification that is nationally-recognised and entitles them to apply for lifeguarding positions nationally and may be a stepping stone to a career in the Leisure industry.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, is a fantastic tourist and leisure attraction which last year over 24,000 thousand people enjoyed.

“Having so many people visiting Pontypridd can only be a positive for the town centre and the local economy, and now thanks to Lido Ponty, there is a further boost for job-seekers with the offer of free access to the sought after NPLQ training course with potential employment at Lido Ponty for those that successfully complete the course.”

Places on the course are limited so get in touch and tell us why you are the ideal person to receive this free training opportunity.

Employment opportunities may include shift work at Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, between March and October, 2016.

Candidates must meet the entry requirements below to take advantage of this opportunity:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age at time of NPLQ Assessment
