Dapper FM thanks the people of Penywaun

As you may be aware, the Cana Centre in Penywaun, home to Dapper FM for the last ten years, is closing at the end of March. This inevitably means that Dapper FM will have to cease broadcasting from the centre.

After much sole searching, the management committee of Dapper FM felt that the only option open to us, if we want to continue broadcasting, was to move out of Penywaun.

You may have heard by now that Jacs Live Music Venue in Aberdare has offered us a new home and are currently in the process of building a new studio for us. The facilities they are offering us were just too good to turn down.

We are acutely aware that without the support of the community of Penywaun, and the management and staff of the Cana Centre, in particular, there would be no Dapper FM. Whilst we are physically leaving the community, we will forever be indebted to the people of Penywaun who have been our hosts for the last decade.

The final live broadcast from the Cana will be the ‘Something for the weekend show’, which will go out live Saturday 24th March between 9 am and 12 noon. If anyone from the community would like to pop around and be part of the show they would be more than welcome.

We aim to be broadcasting again from Jacs by the Easter weekend, construction works and technical gremlins permitting.

Whilst we are moving out of Penywaun, we are not moving far, so if anyone from the community would like to be involved in this new venture, they are, as they always have been, welcome to join us.

You can take Dapper FM out of Penywaun, but you will never take the Penywaun out of Dapper FM.

Yours, with thanks,

Dapper FM Management Committee.

Spread the love
