The Dad AF app – The Social Support Network For Dads

To whom it may concern,

I am Lee, and I am Dad AF.

Dad AF isn't a parenting company, it’s a support network and mindset, the mindset that you are good enough. We are a community that is bringing  Dads together, to give them what I thought I was missing my personal journey, an actual support network. There is a mental health crisis, suicide kills more men under 45 than cancer in the UK, and mental health problems often arise through key life events… Is there one much bigger than becoming a parent? But who’s giving those hundreds of thousands of Dads every year the support they need?

We have seen a ridiculous amounts of empathy, compassion and support within the community for other members; who are complete strangers. The overwhelming feedback from users as at times brought me to tears. Brand new users in the community have used their first post to just say how even by knowing the community exists, it has made them feel better and less alone.

The world doesn’t have physical communities like it once did, people have less and less time to just meet and speak with others. When they did, indirectly it improved their mental health, just by talking and venting. That is lost. But what people do have the phone in the pocket 24/7, we want every Dad to feel like he has an support network with him any time of the day or night.

We have no financial investment, I am just a regular (recently redundant) Dad, everything has come from my own (very modest) pockets. Dad AF is me, with the help of a couple of other dads, trying to genuinely make a difference and in a small way to support the emotional and mental well-being of a part of society that has been over looked for so long.

So why am I reaching out to you? Super simple we need help to reach as many dads in the UK and beyond as possible. We need to let dad know that people and companies do give AF about them, and their well-being. That there is a place where they finally have a network of support, with other people that they can rely and lean on to have a chat about any aspect of their life, ask for help/advice and ultimately feel good enough.

Whether it be through social media, or any other form of communication, would really appreciate anything you can do to help us get the word out to as many Dads as possible!

I’ve attached some of our feedback, so you can see from the community what a difference the app is making.

Yours faithfully

Lee
