Bellway has completed the long-awaited transformation of a former milk depot in Aberdare into a new homes development.

Bellway’s Maes-Y-Ffion development has breathed new life into the former site of the CWS Milk Depot in Llwydcoed Road. The development has provided 47 three-bedroom and four-bedroom homes.

Outline consent for the development was given in 2004 but it took until 2011 for full planning permission to be secured. The site was previously occupied by Dairy Crest and was vacant when Bellway started work.

Sales Director for Bellway Wales, Billie Oaten, said: “People in Aberdare had been waiting for a long time to see this site brought back into use. There is a real sense of achievement in seeing the development reach completion and in seeing a vibrant new community taking shape.

“Redeveloping brownfield sites is extremely important to help meet the housing needs of local communities. Maes-Y-Ffion is a fine example of how a brownfield site can be turned into a fantastic asset for the area.

“We have had lots of families and a number of first-time buyers purchasing new homes at the development and a strong community spirit has already been forged there.

“We are delighted to have completed construction at Maes-Y-Ffion and we are looking forward to welcoming the final residents to their homes shortly.”

The final remaining homes at Maes-Y-Ffion have now been released for sale. Four-bedroom properties are available from £235,995.

The Help to Buy Wales scheme is available to use at the development, which means house-hunters can secure a new home with a five per cent deposit, and a 75 per cent mortgage. The remaining 20 per cent is covered by an equity loan, which is backed by the government, and is interest-free for the first five years.

Alternatively, part exchange is available to ensure a hassle-free move with no chains. For more information see www.bellway.co.uk or call 07971 551106
