Changes to visiting in Cwm Taf hospitals
From February 11, 2002, we will be making some changes to the visiting restrictions across our hospital sites. Thanks to the efforts of everyone in our communities, we have seen a reduction in the rates of transmission of COVID-19 across CTM.
We are now pleased to be able to review our visiting policy for families of patients in our hospitals. We know that the restrictions that have been in place have been upsetting and distressing for families and carers so we are keen that we adapt our policy in line with national guidance.
We now move to a policy of visiting with a purpose, enabling visitors to book a visiting slot with the ward and continuing to ask visitors comply with social distancing and the wearing of masks to mitigate risks.
Please note: Maternity visiting has separate more specific guidance.
Visiting should be with a clear purpose and be based on the best interests of the patient/service user. All visits must be arranged in advance with the relevant ward, and should include just one visitor for the duration of the planned visit. We ask you to enter the hospital site on your own unless otherwise agreed.
New visiting regulations:
- All visiting or accompanying patients to appointments must be pre-arranged and in advance with relevant ward or health professional
- Where visiting is agreed, face masks and other PPE must be worn (unless child is under 11)
- Essential support assistants (such as interpreters or essential carers) are not classified as visitors. Please discuss with your health professional
