‘Attend And Achieve’ Celebration

Secondary school students across the County Borough have been recognised for all their hard work and dedication.

At the Council’s annual Attend and Achieve Celebration, which took place at the Coliseum Theatre in Aberdare, pupils who despite personal difficulties have shown commitment to school attendance during the 2016/17 academic year, were also recognised.

Cllr Joy Rosser, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “The aim of the annual Attend and Achieve Celebration is to honour our students who have gone above and beyond to either maintain or improve their school attendance.

“Their stories are so touching and are a real testament to their character and resilience, and this was an opportunity to congratulate them for all their hard work.”

Among the awards recipients were students Sam Davies, Logan Gill, Kianna Davies, Kiera Paige-Price, Shannon Evans, Callum Poole and Josh Knowle.,

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council chief executive Chris Bradshaw also presented the Rebecca Lewis-Rock Memorial Award to Sam Davies, a pupil at Ferndale Community School.
