‘Tidal wave of blindness’ coming to Wales
Commenting on the news that a leading doctor has warned of a “tidal wave of blindness” in Wales as 75,000 at-risk patients are waiting beyond the target time for eyecare treatment, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, Russell George MS said:
“Leading doctors, the RNIB Cymru and patients who are suffering and waiting for care cannot all be wrong, this is a crisis.
The Labour Government are systematically letting down patients across our Welsh NHS.
“Our sight is truly precious and it is tragic to hear of patients who are languishing on Labour’s excessive waiting lists with deteriorating eyesight. Getting this right should be a priority, not a Bill to expand the size of the Senedd and send more politicians to Cardiff Bay.
“The Labour Health Minister would do well to listen to Welsh Conservative calls to enact a comprehensive workforce plan in the mould of Rishi Sunak’s UK Conservative Government’s plan, to get to grips with this issue before it gets out of hand.”
