Welsh government fighting for Welsh businesses

Plaid Cymru Finance spokesperson Chris Franks AM has said that new
legislation being made by the One Wales government will be another step
towards helping Welsh businesses weather the current economic storm.
The legislation will increase the threshold at which empty properties
are exempted from paying business rates, and will allow businesses to
pay certain backdated business rates bills in interest free
instalments.

The Plaid AM for South Wales Central, Chris Franks said:

“These measures are designed to help affected businesses with their
cash flow. They are an important step in helping Welsh businesses
through these difficult economic times.

“As economic minister, Plaid Leader Ieuan Wyn Jones has been working
hard to lessen the impact of the current economic storm on the
communities of Wales. Several measures to help Welsh businesses have
been announced including improvements to procurement processes for
small businesses, and a review of business support to ensure that it is
flexible enough. This new legislation will ease the pressure on many of
our businesses.”
