Aberdare players out-graded Barry's comfortably on most boards...though

Steve had a player traditionally higher graded who hadn't played

competitively last season. Steve controlled the board, but unable to

gain material accepted the draw. Graham, Simon & Mike all struggled to

make their class count, though Graham turned a losing position into a

win at the end. Simon gave up far too much material and started to

worry, being a Rook and pawns down, when his opponent slipped out of a

mating position. However, he managed to recoup some material and agreed

the draw. Jeff confirmed his new status as 'Time King', coming from

behind on time, using his 1 pawn advantage to force his opponent to

think longer and gaining a time victory, when others would have sought a

draw. Well done Jeff...you won us the match.
