Traffic calming on the B4275 Cardiff Road in Aberaman,

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council are spending a few thousand pound on traffic calming on the B4275 Cardiff Road in Aberaman, this work is intended to slow down traffic around the Blaengwawr school area.

Would the plan be more effective if the 10 FT wide pavement at that point was reduced to accommodate parked cars out of the way of the main carriageway?

By introducing a better flow of traffic it would reduce the Congestion at the bus stop and zebra crossing making it safer for pedestrians and vehicle owners who park in Cardiff Road.

missgemini I don't know how

I don't know how far they are going with this traffic calming, but I hope they continue further down Aberaman!! The speed of the traffic coming from the direction and going in the direction of St. Margaret's Church is quite honesly frightening!! A few accidents have happened, where cars have been speeding so much, they have gone into vehicles parked at the side of the road. One accident happened not so long ago, when a car going in the direction of Abercwmboi, crashed into one car and pushed another nearly into the doorway of the flats. The driver and passenger got out of the car but didn't get very far!!

If the council sticks to its

If the council sticks to its rigid road maintenance scheme (IE let the holes get bigger)they wont have to spend huge sums as a large pot hole will slow the traffic down any way.

Just paint a big yellow circle round the hole (some retard on cummunity service could just about do this in about a week) and hey presto cheap as chips traffic calming system.

Or feed the drunks with cheaper alcohol and let them roll around in yellow freak coloured coats abusing the traffic and let them walk up aberaman by pass slowing down traffic.

Problem solved.

Even cheaper let the moron

Even cheaper let the moron drivers from south wales police park their trusty rust buckets outside the chip shop in victoria square.

With prolonged work to start

With prolonged work to start on the bypass it is inevitable that motorists will use the B4275 Cardiff Road in Aberaman as an alternative to the predicted queuing traffic.

Would it be too much to expect that the highways department at RCTCBC have taken this into account, as there is already a major problem at peak times on Cardiff Road Aberaman with double parking allowing only single lane use of the carriageway?

Would it be possible to introduce tempary-parking restrictions to one side of the carriageway to ease the inevitable problems that will without doubt arise?

Rhondda Cynon Press Release

Work is set to begin next week (Monday 28th February) to undertake improvements and increase the size the Asda Roundabout, Cwmbach.

The scheme which is programmed for completion by September 2011 will increase the capacity of this vital junction.
The works will consist of widening the entry lanes onto the roundabout together with improvements to highway drainage, street lighting, traffic signs and road markings, and resurfacing of the carriageway and footways.

Persimmon Homes will be carrying out the work, at no cost to the public, in conjunction with the housing development in the area. Road users and bus passengers should benefit from reduced and more reliable travel times.

For the duration of the works, a temporary 30mph speed restriction will be in place to ensure the safety of the travelling public, as well as the workforce.

Councillor Andrew Morgan, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Customer Care and Emergency Planning, said: “The proposed works will bring much needed important long term road capacity and safety improvements to this section of the A4059 and have been planned to minimise any congestion and delays. However I would urge drivers to look out for temporary signs and allow plenty of time for their journeys while these worthwhile improvements are carried out.

Glad that bloody roundabout

Glad that bloody roundabout is being done, how the hell it was ever built with such narrow lanes is beyond me!

Anyone ever tried driving through there side by side with a car, hopefully this will help with the hold ups there as with the ASDA Store and the new houses being built it has got much busier

Hell's teeth. Who's going to

Hell's teeth. Who's going to take 7 months to do this work on the Asda roundabout? One man with his shovel and pick and a donkey and cart. 7 months?????

Now if we had listened to cocoman we could get the scroungers out of the workhouse to help.

Maybe they were hoping for

Maybe they were hoping for some of this 'Big Society' stuff to be running to help out and as it turns out it didn't work and yes it is one man and his shovel! :P
