Time to bring back the Dog License £50 a Year to Help Combat Dog Fouling

“If you allow your dog to foul in a public place and do not clean up the mess, then under the powers of Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 & The Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 2005 you will be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of £75.00 for the offence.”

Above part of RCT website but its not working in Aberaman especially in Lewis Street, Cardiff Road, Club Street and Brook Street, dogs are allowed to stray therefore increasing the problem.

Irresponsible dog owners are to blame and the local authority for allowing the dog mess to accumulate and not get cleaned up, dog fouling bins have little use if dogs are allowed to stray and irresponsible dog owners don’t clean up.
Time to bring back the dog license say at £50 a year then if you are a dog lover you won’t mind paying.

We work in partnership with community groups and use intelligence from our customer complaints to identify hot spot areas for dog fouling across the county borough. We install dog fouling bins in these areas and carry out surveillance exercises and issue fixed penalty notices to people who do not pick up up their dog fouling.

No. Simply wouldn't work.

No. Simply wouldn't work. The responsible dog owner would take out a licence, but those who allow their dogs to roam and foul certainly would not.

Even the dangerous dogs act is a joke. It is illegal to breed Pit Bulls, or a Pit Bull type dog. Have you seen how many Pit Bull type dogs there are in this valley, openly walking around. I'm sure these people will be queueing up to take out their licence.

Is micro chipping dogs the answer? Wardens could carry a chip reader and take a reading from any dog caught fouling. No need for a licence as the owner would already be registered. I think there could well be legislation to make micro chipping compulsory. No doubt breeders who care about their puppies will micro chip and then register the new owners with the authorities.

But micro chipping for the Heinz 57 or the Pit Bull type. Dream on. My dog is micro chipped and also registered with the Kennel Club. If she goes to the toilet in the street or in the park then it gets picked up (in very fetching pink bags at the moment). You will not stop the irresponsible owner they themselves just don't give a shit (pun intended).

Anyway, why pick on dogs, what about all the cats that come a shit in my flower beds?
