Rhondda Cynon Taf Public Health Team is launching their ‘Smoke Free Homes’ project in Penrhiwceiber in the Cynon valley on No Smoking Day.
Nicola John, Director of Public Health for Cwm Taf Health Board, said: “In the UK, over 10,000 non-smoking adults die in the UK every year from illnesses caused by breathing in other family members smoke. Research also shows that children are more likely to start smoking if their parents smoke at home.
“That’s why the ‘Smoke Free Homes’ project is so important. It aims to reduce children and other vulnerable adults’ exposure to second hand smoke, particularly in the home, in order to help families stop smoking now and in the future.”
