Olyimpic Success

That was the best Olympic Games I have ever seen. 2012 has been a fantastic year for Britain, with the Diamond Jubilee to start the success off.
The four people who we must thank for the excellent, trouble free games, is Lord Coe, Borris Johnson, Theresa May and the top man who give London the "Go Ahead" to host the games, the Prime Minister David Cameron. What a team!

I have watched every Olympic

I have watched every Olympic since 1948 an this one of 2012 is the best as far as I'm concerned.

The success of Team G B was wonderful to see,The world records that were lowered,The drama of the different events unfolding, The Olympic village with all the venues and facilities were tremendous and the closing ceremony was again wonderful with the lighting and themes among the top attractions for me.

Britain has shown it can still be among the best at putting on a fabulous showpiece for the world to enjoy.

Take a bow U K you deserve all the accolades that are being passed your way after a wonderful Olympic games/

I don't know about thanking

I don't know about thanking Coe. I remember what he said about the Welsh so F him too.

On July 6th 2005 when we won

On July 6th 2005 when we won the running to hold the Olympic games where was David Cameron ! ! .... thought it was Tony Blair. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Tony Blair was busy making

Tony Blair was busy making trouble around the world. If David Cameron has to take the blame for the last Labour Government, then he can take the credit too. Besides if David Cameron said, "no Olympics" then no Olympics it would have been. So Yes, I am correcting you for being wrong!

The Olympic Gold for

The Olympic Gold for stupidity goes to, you guessed it, Cockman.

Smarmy Cameron became leader of the opposition in 2005. Indeed when in 1997 the then mayor of London Ken Livingston instigated a bid for the 2012 games, Cameron was not even an MP (being elected in 2001). The final date for cities to bid to host the games was the 15th July 2003 with the decision being given to London on 6th July 2005. Cameron bid not even become leader of the opposition until 6th December 2005.

Once the bid was put together the then parliament gave it's unequivocal cross-party support (1997). It's not often your right Cockman, but your wrong again.

This Cockoman is just

This Cockoman is just winding everyone up, clearly this games were won by the Labour Governemnt whatever your political background is the facts are the facts....

I wasnt fussed on Blair for lots of reasons but it was his government that won the UK 2012 bid.

Now what the Tories have done over the last two years and more so the last few weeks is cock up the security with G$ but that God we do have a fantastic armed forces in the UK that yet again got us out of the shit as frankly they were takling police from left right and centre including over 140 from South Wales as it was so without the army helping Cameron would have truely cocked this up for us!

When David Cameron was

When David Cameron was elected Prime Minister, the first job he had to do, to save the British economy, was to make drastic cuts. For example the Severn Barrage and many other projects. He let the Olympic Games go ahead, although he was under pressure to put a block on them. For that we should thank him. Why don't you give credit when it is due?

In May 2010 the Tories

In May 2010 the Tories announced that the budget for the 2012 London games would be reduced by £27m. There was never any intention to scrap the games. To do so at such at late date when 70% of the infrastructure was close to being completed was never in question.

To announce that the games would be scrapped after the 2010 general election would have been political suicide. The United Kingdom would have been the laughing stock of the world. The financial and legal implications with ending contracts with the construction companies was also too high to bear.

As usual Cockman, your grasp of the real world is beyond belief. You really do write a lot of complete bollocks. But never let the facts get in the way of a good troll.

But lets end with thanking everyone involved in bringing the games to London. Getting it completed in time and on budget. Perhaps the biggest thankyou should to to those volunteers (unpaid workers) who have been widely praised around the world.

Let's not forget the military who stepped in when G4$ tried hard to put profit before performance. If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys, but there were so few peanuts on offer that the vast majority of the monkeys did not even bother turning up. Don't you just love private enterprise.

gibby you are a fool. The

gibby you are a fool. The rubbish you come out with is beyond reason. Engage your brain before you put your mouth into gear!

Please feel free to disprove

Please feel free to disprove any of my posts on this topic. If you can then I shall apologise. I have just quoted documented facts but perhaps the recorded history of the London 2012 games are wrong and as usual Cockman is right.

Again, good marks for a great bit of trolling Cockman.

When the 'bid' for

When the 'bid' for London2012 was made it was estimated to cost the taxpayer £4billion (inclusive of policing, security, subsidised transport and all infrastructure). After the bid was successful, the Public Accounts Committee set a budget £9.325billion in March 2007. At the time the additional £5.3billion was explained as "reduced private sector income". This additional cost was to be covered by an ADDITIONAL subsidy of £4.9 billion from the taxpayer, and £675million diverted from other sports by the National Lottery. The budget was more than twice the estimate. It could be argued that the Olympics was 'within budget' because the budget was not fixed until known costs had already doubled from the 'estimate'. Latest forecast is it cost the UK taxpayer £9.5billion. The same a the total annual budget of the NHS and Education for the whole of Wales added together.

Obviously we have the 'legacy' which benefits Wales. I am told that Geraint Thomas has popped into JD Sports for a Yellow Jersey because he couldn't do the Tour de France, horse prancing will be introduced into Blaengwawr Primary next term, the Abernant downhill rowing club are still going strong, and the Welsh gold medal is a major achievement for the ancient Welsh sport of Javelin catching and Dai-quando. (Too cynical?)

Please Valleyboy, don't

Please Valleyboy, don't confuse Cockman with any more facts, he'll get a migrane.

I do agree with you about the 'legacy' for Wales from the games. With very few exceptions it is only London that will ultimately benefit.

I do believe that just 1% of the contracts awarded for the building of the games went to Welsh firms. If you lump this in with the amount of extra National Lottery funds that was diverted then Wales did very badly indeed.

the only people making money

the only people making money out of Olympics were Olympic bankers, macdonalds, coca cola and visa plus all the hangers on and sponsors.

the people of UK didnt make a bean and all the coin went into a big corrupt machine driven by the olympics committee.

Amercian companies pocketed a huge wedge
