Hi to you all, esp Aelfgwyn and Samantha who, like me are just moving into the valleys.
Please let me introduce myself. Kent born, London "brung up", teacher in China, last known address sunny France.
From this you will see I'm old, old and grumpy (Well someone has to be on this forum site, might just as well be me :-) ), oh! And male.
Interested in finding real ales, old citroen cars, social history (Nosey bugger), photography (Not as good as Lewis :-( ), learning to play the piano and enjoying the friendly people and fantastic scenery that abounds hereabouts.
I also like driving, gardening, hifi, cooking and washing up. (Only kidding)
As yet I am unemployed, so looking for things to do. Are there any art classes in the area, as I used to enjoy that at school and what about walking groups?
Looking forward to joining in some of the discussions on this forum, just to give negative balance you know.
Thanks for reading and hope to chat with you all.
Chris.
p.s. Organs should be gifted not grabbed, I want to be revived, if possible, not left to die and anyway with genetic enginering just around the corner we will be able to grow to order.

Hiya
Can I just say welcome to all of you who have just moved to the Aberdare/Abercynon or are about to move to Aberdare/Abercynon. I met my partner (husband now) 5 years ago, I was living in Cwmbran (im originally from Newport in Gwent) he is an Aberdare boy. After 6 months I moved to Aberdare and have never looked back, I have settled in so well.
I love going to the country park and walking the line to Cwmaman. I enjoy the Falcon inn (which serves Real Ales may I add). I have made wonderful friends with people. Everyone is so lovely. Obviously Newport will always be where im from and I still have family there but I love living In Abedare. Aberdare also has a beautiful park and some lovely places to eat. I could go on. I love it here.
Hi and a warm welcome to you
Hi and a warm welcome to you too, as a liker of Real Ales you can't be that bad :P
How are the other six and where has snow white disappeared to?
I agree about organs being gifted not grabbed, and soon they should be able to grow our own transplant organs inside our abdominal cavity. Mind you I pity that poor mouse that had a human ear grown on his back. :O
*I'm not insane, but I think my mind is *

Hi crazydruid, thanks for the link, missed this weeks and missed the 8 mile walk round a pub the week before, seems a waste of good drinking time to me, but will join in this comming Sunday at 9am. Doesn't give my kippers much tme to go down. Need to get some good boots, any views on type and where to purchase? p.s. Where do I get the butler to lay out the picnic?

Hi and thanks Aelfgyn. What do you mean "cant be that bad", we are wonderful people, that is till it's our round.. The 7th of March, erm what is so important? Sorry if it obvious but I am a bit thick at times. (Not enough lubrication is my excuse.)
Thanks Lisa34, glad to chat
Thanks Lisa34, glad to chat to you. Falcon Inn sounds a good place, when you next vist I'll be the one standng by the bar with an inane smile.;-)I will admit to liking Aberdare as well, it still has a traditional feel to it, without being old fashioned. I stayed for a short time in Newport, the people I stayed with originally came from a place near Aberdare, and it was on my return from Aberdare that I found the place I am now living in.
Hi Where did you stay in

I'm moving to Aberdare on the 7th , a good lubricant would be Theakstons 'Old Peculier' their spelling not mine, sure to get the joints and brain to function in unison, well for the first pint or four :P
Wasn't obvious sorry I forgot that it was in my thread 'moving to Aberdare' not this one .
hmmm need to find out if there is a CAMRA group in the vicinity, always good to know.

The last one has been named very appropriately!!!!!

You want to try the Red Lion in Penderyn, a proper real ale pub! I remember having a pint of OWD(?) Roger there a few years ago- took me hours to drink it!!!
