MEMORIES
Don’t remember where I came from
Can’t remember where I’ve been,
Don’t remember what I’ve done today
Or even what I’ve seen.
I remember getting married
And starting my first job,
I remember going down the pub
Me and my friend Bob.
When did I get older
How did I get where I am today,
What’s happened in the last few years
When did I lose my way?
My home is full of people
All strangers I don’t know,
But each of them are friendly
Saying Hiya as they go.
I’m never lonely where I am
There’s always someone here for me,
They clean my room and wash my clothes
Cook breakfast, lunch and tea.
I’ve met some friends since coming here
We love to sit and chat,
We talk about the old times
Discussing this and that.
We remembered when the war was on
And when the miners went on strike,
We remembered having children
And teaching them to ride a bike.
Some memories have vanished
They’ve been dropped along the way,
Where, did I last have them
Oh, please come back I pray.
As I sit and wonder
What’s happening to me,
I guess there’s just one answer
What will be, will be.
